British man held for molesting minor

Hong Kong, Apr 29: A British teacher was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment for molesting a five-year-old Chinese girl, whom he use to give private lessons in Hong Kong.

43-year-old Nigel Russell Harris was held guilty on two charges of indecent assault after he admitted to the offences on Wednesday, Apr 27 before Hong Kong"s District Court.

The court said that the police was alerted by the mother of the victim after she said, "Teacher always touches the lower part of my body."

The girl used to be taken to Harris' home by her grandmother twice a week. He would teach her English lessons in a locked computer room, while the grandmother waited outside, the court heard.

While pronouncing the verdict against the accused, Judge Stanley Chan ordered him to undergo psychological treatment during his detention.
