Efforts on to bring Dawood to India: CBI
Kolkata, Apr 25: CBI director Ashwini Kumar said that effort being made to bring Dawood Ibrahim, prime accused in the 1993 Bombay serial bomb blast case, to India.
"He is one of the most wanted criminals and is very much on our radar. We are trying to find him and as soon as we get him we will arrest and bring him to the country," Kumar said.
Speaking during the inauguration of a training module for press correspondents, KUmar said that 123 persons have been chargesheeted within 2 years and 3 months and 100 people were convicted by the court in 2006.
"Of the 100 convicted, 37 are absconding. We have been able to arrest five or seven of them, but the prime accused Dawood Ibrahim is still absconding," Kumar said.
"Dawood Ibrahim is not only wanted in our country, but there is also an Interpol Red Corner notice against him. His name also appears on the the UN charter of dreaded criminals."
Around 250 persons lost their lives in the March 1993 serial blasts which rocked Mumbai.
