Thieves break into Dutch prison, steal inmates TV

Hoorn, Apr 23: Burglars broke into a Dutch minimum-security prison and stole television sets from inmates" rooms.

The prison meant for inmates, who were at the end of their jail terms, has been robbed twice in the last six weeks. The robbery happened when the inmated were on a weekend leave.

Inmates of the prison, situated in Hoorn town, are allowed weekend leave as part of a Dutch Government initiative to assist them in mingling with the society.

A Telegraph report quoted the Dutch Justice Ministry spokesman as saying that the two thefts took place on two separate weekends, just a month apart in Mar and Apr.

The investigars are still puzzled on how the burglars could break into prison, he added.

So far no arrest has been in connection with the incident.
