London, Apr 23(ANI): A survey has shockingly revealed that someone in the UK is injured in a violent attack every 30 seconds.

The British Crime Survey found that there were 1.12 million assaults last year in which the victim was left wounded.

There was also a worrying increase in sex offences, according to separate police crime figures.

The police recorded 42,311 cases of the "most serious sex crimes" last year, an increase of three percent over the year before.

However, firearm offences dipped by three percent and drug crimes dropped by four percent.

It also revealed that police investigated 4.5 million crimes last year, down 340,000 over the year before.

Talking about the figures, Shadow Home Secretary Chris Grayling said: "Any improvement is obviously welcome, but we still live in a more dangerous country than when Labour came to power."

"The Government has presided over a surge in violence, while Labour's target culture means the police spend more time on paperwork than on the beat. Knife crime remains a serious concern on our streets and the Conservatives will make tackling it a priority" The Sun quoted Grayling, as saying. (ANI)
