Food inflation rises to 17.65 per cent
New Delhi, Apr 22: The food inflation rate for the week ended Apr 10 came up at 17.65 per cent, up from the previous week's 17.22 per cent.
The rise in food inflation rate has been attributed to the higher prices of fruits and vegetables.
As per the official data released on Thursday, Apr 22, prices of fruits and vegetables have gone up by 3 per cent, sea fish got dearer by 2 per cent while pulses got costlier by 1 per cent over the course of the week.
The current rate is much higher than the 8.16 per cent inflation recorded in the corresponding period of 2009.
