Sarkozy to submit bill against veil

Paris, Apr 21: France"s government spokesman said that President Nicolas Sarkozy has decided to submit a bill before the Parliament, seeking a ban on the Islamic veil.

Spokesman Luc Chatel said that Sarkozy decided to go ahead with the submission of the bill which imposes a general ban on such veils 'in all public places.'

Terming the Islamic veils that covers a woman from head to toe, as opressive, Sarkozy said that such attires were 'not welcome' in France.

The bill will be French President first legal move toward an outright ban on veils.
