Indian-born actor robbed at gunpoint in Washington
Chicago, Apr 21: Popular Indian-American actor Kal Penn was reportedly robbed at gunpoint in Washington DC on Tuesday, Apr 20.
Kal Penn, whose real name is Kalpen Modi, also works in the White House"s Office of Public Liaison.
The actor was robbed of his wallet and belongings by a gunman in the Dupont Circle area.
The Chicago Tribune reported that Penn"s former publicist Jennifer Goodwin has confirmed the reports on the incident.
The comedian has played the role of 'Kumar' in the two 'Harold and Kumar' movies namely, 'Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle' (2004) and 'Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay' (2008).
He also acted in the famous Mira Nair movie 'Namesake' alongside Tabu and Irrfan Khan.
In the White House, Penn helps US President Barack Obama connect with the Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities. He was one among the famous campaigners for Obama during the 2008 elections.
