BJP accuses UPA Govt. of mismanagement, corruption during its price-rise rally
New Delhi, April 21 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday accused the Congress party-led Government of mismanagement and corruption, saying this has led to inflation in the country.
Addressing at the 'Sansad Chalo', a public march and rally held in the capital, senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani said there was a need for public to compare the prices of commodities of daily use during the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government and the present day Congress-led government.
"Compare this to 2004, when the term of Vajpayee government got over and their (UPA) government came into power. Since then in the last six years the prices of every commodity especially eatables have increased significantly. You will see some things have risen by 100%, some by 200%, some by 250%. The prices have risen continuously. The reason for that is mismanagement as Sushma ji said and even bigger than that is corruption," said Advani, senior BJP leader and National Democratic Alliance's Working Chairman.
BJP President Nitin Gadkari, on this occasion, described the UPA government led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as anti-poor and a government that has failed to control rising prices of essential commodities.
"When united progressive Alliance (UPA) government came into power, a great economist became the Prime Minister of the country. People of the country thought that the economic policy of the country will be on the right track. But the promise to bring down inflation in 100 days by the congress party and the UPA government under leadership of a great economist failed. Sonia ji used to say that their government is for poor people, but the poverty has increased rather than decreased. The slogan they raised was to eliminate poverty but they have worked to increase poverty," he said.
BJP leaders also alleged that food stocks were rotting due to improper management at various godowns owned by the government-owned Food Corporation of India (FCI).
The massive demonstration was the biggest mobilization of BJP workers from across the country, under the leadership of newly appointed BJP chief Nitin Gadkari as witnessed at the Ramlila Ground in the national capital on Wednesday.
Hundreds of thousands of party workers from across the country participated in the rally. (ANI)
