B'lore blasts: Police probing betting lobby angle
Bangalore, Apr 19: In the latest update on the Bangalore blasts, the Karantaka government on Monday, Apr 19, said that police are examining the possible involvement of 'betting lobby' behind the blasts near Chinnaswamy cricket stadium.
"Police are probing this (betting lobby) angle also," Karnataka home minister VS Acharya told reporters in Bangalore.
The twin blasts on Saturday, Apr 17, ahead of the match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers raised security concern over the remaining matches of the tournament in the city. 15 persons, including five security men, were injured in the twin blasts
The venue of IPL semi-finals was eventually shifted from Bangalore to Mumbai after the three more bombs were found near the stadium.
Acharya said that despite the state government's best effort to convince the IPL authorities about the security arrangement, they shifted the venue "for their own reasons".
