TN allots Rs 1,000 cr for laying world class roads
Madurai, Apr 16: Tamil Nadu Government has allotted Rs 1,000 crore project for laying world class roads in 11 cities, an official release said on Friday, Apr 16.
According to the release, discussions were taking place at various levels to build the roads which would have good lighting facility, footpath, and sign boards.
Tamil Nadu urban finance and infrastructure development corporation advisor M S Srinivasan held a meeting to discuss about the proposed project.
Srinivasan said it had been proposed to build 750 km of roads in Madurai.
"Laying of water pipes and underground cables would be taken up in advance to ensure that there was no digging of the roads for at least five years after the completion of the project," he said.
The construction of roads would begin in another one year and will be maintained by the private agencies for five years.
