Sania, Shoiab handed duty of population control

Lahore, Apr 15: The newly wed couple Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza have been handed the responsibility of controlling the high birth rate in Pakistan as the pair have been named brand ambassadors of the country's population welfare ministry.

Population Welfare Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan, who made this announcement here on Wednesday, Apr 15, hoped that Sania and Shoaib will not only work towards controlling the high birth rate in the country but also in India.

Besides this, the minister opined that the cross-border marriage would revive the Indo-Pak peace talks, which hit a roadblock ever since the Mumbai terror attacks in 2008.

Awan will be attending the wedding reception of the Pakistani cricketer and the Indian tennis star scheduled to take place on Thursday, Apr 15 in Hyderabad, Sania's home town.

During her five-day visit to India, the Pakistani minister will be meeting Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Sports as well as Youth Affairs Minister MS Gill.
