Fire at ship harboured doused after seven hours in Mumbai
Mumbai, April 14 (ANI): A fire broke out in a harboured ship at a ship-breaking yard here on Wednesday.
At least eight fire tenders had to be pressed into service and four water tankers were used. Fire officials finally managed to control blaze but only after seven hours.
The inferno occurred at around 11 a.m. when workers were dismantling a refrigerated ship 'Captain' by using gas cutter at city's Reti Bunder breaking yard.
"During investigations, we find that the cutting work by gas cutter was underway...we feel that the sparks from the machine must have been the cause of the fire," said Uday Tatkare, Chief Fire Officer for Mumbai.
Meanwhile, police have launched an official probe to ascertain what exactly caused the fire and how much damage it has caused.
There was, however, no casualty. (ANI)
