Malaysian Government to set up task force to help Indian community

Kuala Lumpur, Apr 13(ANI): The Malaysian Government will set up a special implementation task force to identify and monitor the participation of Indians in government projects and programmes.

The Malaysian Prime Minister's Office said the task force would monitor and strengthen delivery and implementation, enabling the poor and low-income groups of the community to access public-sector services.

The services would include poverty eradication programmes, affordable housing and education programmes.

"The effort is in line with the 'People First, Performance Now' concept and will seek to address all challenges in delivering social and development programmes and projects to the Indian community," The New Strait times quoted a Malaysian PMO statement, as saying.

Malaysian Human Resources Minister Dr. S. Subramaniam, who is also a member of the Cabinet Committee on Indian Affairs, will chair the task force.

He would work closely with the Prime Minister's Office, Economic Planning Unit, Implementation Coordination Unit, Finance, Education and Human Resources ministries. (ANI)
