Indonesian plane plunges into river, 20 injured
Jakarata, Apr 13: At least 20 people on board were injured on Tuesday, Apr 13, when a plane skidded off the runway and plunged into a river near airport in Indonesia's Papua province.
Papua police spokesman Agus Rianto said, "The head of the plane sank in the water and its body broke into two parts."
Rianto said that the plane, a Boeing 737 with about 100 people on board, moved over 700 meters from the runway after landing in heavy rain.
Some of the injured were in serious condition. Bad weather has been blamed for the crash, he added.
