7 killed, 25 injured as Italy train derails

Rome, Apr 12: At least seven people have been killed and 25 others were injured after a train derailed near northern Italian town of Bolzano on Monday, Apr 12.

The accident took place at around 09:00 am in a mountain valley following a landslide near the winter sports town of Merano, the official said.

"Seven people are dead, five seriously injured and about 20 injured more lightly," said the official.

The railway line, inaugurated in 2005, is considered one of the most modern tracks in the country.
