West Bengal: Maoists kill two Trinamool workers

Midnapore, Apr 10: Two Trinamool Congress Workers were brutally killed on Friday, Apr 9 by Maoists, who suspected that the two men were police informers.

The police on Saturday, Apr 10 said the victims identified as Paban Mahato (38) and Kaushik Dutta (35) were killed at Bandhghora village near Lalgarh in West Midnapore district.

The ultras reportedly chopped off the limbs of the two men before sprayed bullets into their bodies and killing them.

The bullet-ridden bodies were tough to identify. The identification was established hours after the police recovered the bodies.

One of the victims, Kaushik Dutta was a casual worker of electricity department of Manikpara in Jhargram. The two men were confirmed to be Trinamool workers by Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Trinamool Congress leader Sisir Adhikari.

“They were missing since yesterday afternoon when they went to distribute electric bills to households in Rasua village. An inquiry is on," District Magistrate Narayan Swarup Nigam is quoted as saying in a news agency report.

The guerrillas left posters near the bodies claiming that Dutta and Mahato were police informers, the police said.
