A creche for Labourers' kids opens at President's Estate
New Delhi, April 10 (ANI): At the initiative of the President Pratibha Devisingh Patil, a crhche meant for the benefit of children of labourers working in Rashtrapati Bhavan, was inaugurated by Chachimma Christy, the spouse of the Secretary to the President, Dr. Christy Fernandez here on Saturday.
The creche named 'Sopan' meaning first step to success is located in the President's Estate.
It will cater at present to about 20 to 25 children in the three to six age group.
The President of India, felt the need to start this facility as there are a number of labourers working in Rashtrapati Bhavan.
"The capacity of the crhche would be increased in the future, if a need was felt for the same. Nutritious food would be provided to the children and would be open six days a week, except Sundays," stated a Rashtrapati Bhavan release.
The crhche is being staffed by two attendants and two helpers who are spouses of employees of Rashtrapati Bhavan. (ANI)
