Orkut trumps Facebook in India: ComScore Study
Bangalore, Apr 8: Facebook may be the global leader in the sphere of social networking but when it comes to India, Google's Orkut overtakes Facebook, says a new study.
As per the new study conducted by UK-based internet traffic tracking firm comScore titled 'Social Networking Habits Vary Considerably Across Asia-Pacific Markets', Orkut heads the popularity list of social networking sites in India.
46.8 per cent of the Indian internet users log on Google's social networking site, comScore said.
Facebook, however, is still the most favorite in countries such as Philippines (84.5 pc), Australia (69.4 pc), Indonesia (84.9 pc), Malaysia (77.5 pc), Singapore (72.1 pc), New Zealand (63.6 pc), Hong Kong (62.6 pc) and Vietnam (18.4 pc).
Other three social networking sites which figured on the list of top social networking sites in Asia Pacific markets included Wretch.cc with 62.5 per cent hold in Taiwan, CyWorld with 54.2 per cent users logging into it in South Korea, and Mixi.jp with 18.9 per cent strength in Japan.
