Mastermind of Pune blast identified: ATS

Mumbai, Apr 8: In a major breakthrough in Pune bomb blast case, Maharashtra Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) claimed that they have identified the main suspect, an ATS source said.

According to the ATS source, Yasin Bhatkal, a distant relative of Indian Mujahideen (IM) founder Riaz Bhatkal, may have been the mastermind behind the Feb 2010 blasts.

"One of the prime suspects has been identified as Yasin, who hails from Bhatkal village in Karnataka. We believe he is related to Riyaz, who is absconding," the source said.

The ATS report submitted to Home Ministry on Wednesday, Apr 7, also reportedly confirms the IM's role in the Pune blasts.

17 people were killed and 54 others injured in the bomb attack on the German bakery in Pune's upscale Koregaon Park area on Feb 13 evening.
