Hyd: BJP fact-finding team taken into custody

Hyderabad, Apr 7: BJP fact-finding team was taken into preventive custody on Wednesday, Apr 7, when they tried to proceed towards riot-hit areas of Hyderabad.

The team, set up by BJP president Nitin Gadkari, was in Hyderabad to visit riot-hit areas in Old City which had recently witnessed communal clashes.

The police and BJP leaders had arguments for not permitting to visit some parts of the Old City.

Party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar, MP Shanappa, MP Prahlad Joshi, national spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman and secretary Dr K Laxman were taken into custody.

Over 50 party workers, who raised slogans against the police for preventing their leaders to visit the Old City, were also taken into custody.

Police also took BJP Andhra Pradesh unit president G Kishan Reddy into custody when he was addressing the media on the road and condemned the action of the police against the party's fact finding team.
