High alert sounded in Orissa-Chhattisgarh border
Bhubaneswar, Apr 7: A day after the massive Dantewada ambush, a high alert has been sounded in Orissa-Chattisgarh border on Wednesday, Apr 7, police official said.
Speaking to reporters, Deputy Inspector General of Police Sandeep Panda said, "The area where Maoists launched their attack in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, Apr 6, is located about 30-40 km from the border of Orissa's Malkangiri district."
"In view of that, all the police stations and camps in the district have been asked to be on maximum alert," he said.
He further said, "We are in regular touch with the police and paramilitary forces in Chhattisgarh and the information sharing has been strengthened."
76 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers were killed on Tuesday, Apr 6, by Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district.
The Naxals went on a killing spree using pressure bombs and automatic weapons.
