Pak citizen files petition against 'un-Islamic' appointment of female judges
Lahore, Apr.4 (ANI): A Pakistani citizen has filed a petition in the Federal Shariat Court against the appointment of women as judge or 'qazis', terming it as 'un-Islamic'.
In his petition, Mian Hamid Murtaza, has pleaded the court to ask female judges working in courts across the country to restrain from coming to courts till further notice.
"It is purely un-Islamic and contrary to the injunctions of the Quran and Sunnah," The Daily Times quoted the petition, as stating.
Petitioner's counsel, Malik Muhammad Rabnawaz Khan, said that according to Islamic injunctions a woman could not be appointed a judge.
"The court should give its verdict so the existing law relating to these appointments should be brought in conformity with Islamic injunctions," Khan said. (ANI)
