US sensitive about India's concerns on Pak: Sources
New Delhi, April 3 (ANI): Government sources here believe that the United States is sensitive about India's concerns vis-'-vis its supply of latest stocks of weapons to Pakistan and has assured the tight monitoring of the supplied weapons that the Washington says has been delivered to fight terrorism.
The US recently unveiled plans to provide Pakistan with 12 unmanned spy drones to boost surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities over its border regions.t has also decided to supply range F-16 and maritime weapons.
A top government source here said: "Our concerns have been expressed on the package of assistance the US is providing to Pakistan and the military assistance that is used in the past more than the purposes Americans intended to, those concerns are put across to the US."
"I don't believe that our concerns are not taken onboard, they are talking of assurances they have told us that they, in the best of their ability, will keep this aspect in there sphere of consideration. They are sensitive of the fact that supplied military equipment could be used against India," the source added.
Commenting on the recently concluded US-Pak strategic dialogue, the top government source said: "India does not view US-Pakistan relationship as a strategic relationship but as a relationship of necessity in which Pakistan has to deliver a lot when it comes to dealing with the epicenter of terrorism and also the problems that Afghanistan faces."
India also believes that Pakistan has created an unnecessary hype about the US-Pakistan civil nuclear agreement that was not materialized and such deal was never on the cards.
New Delhi feels that the US is trying to build a sectoral approach towards Pakistan.
Sources said that the basic thing is to do with Pakistan's attitude and strategy in the region; the way it looks at the region, the way it deals with Afghanistan, the way it deals with terrorism, is all India related, there is a basic fundamental issue here and the US is aware of this.
India has conveyed its concerns not just to the US administration, butfriends in the US Congress, think tanks , media. Our view has been made very clear,Americans are completely in the know what our concerns are and why are weexpressing these concerns, sources added. (ANI)
