Schoolgirl's life saved after eye test 'detects brain tumour'

Melbourne, April 3 (ANI): A schoolgirl is said to have been saved from death when a routine eye test helped in detecting a brain tumour.

According to the Sun, Danielle Forster, 12, had complained of migraines and blurred vision in one eye but doctors reportedly failed to diagnose the potentially deadly growth.

Then during a visit to Specsavers in Dunfermline, Scotland, optician Andy Hepburn noticed swelling behind her eyes.

Danielle was sent straight to the hospital for a scan. Four days later she underwent a four-hour operation to remove the tumour, which was not cancerous.

"Specsavers became lifesavers. If it hadn't been for them my daughter would not be here," News.com.au quoted Danielle's relieved mother Marcia as saying on April 1.

Hepburn said routine examinations can show up all sorts of illnesses like diabetes and high blood pressure.

"I see about 300 patients a year and only two had tumours. One was Danielle," he added. (ANI)
