Mayawati takes on Joshi over special monument force
Lucknow, Apr 3 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati and State Governor B L Joshi are reportedly at cross-purposes over the former's order to create a special monument force.
Mayawati has passed the orders for the recruitment of a special force of 1200 ex-Armymen to protect statues and monuments in nine parks in the state.
Governor Joshi has not cleared the bill, forcing Mayawati to go ahead with her decision without an ordinance.
The recruitment is expected to begin on Saturday at a cost of Rs 67 crore.
The State Government is expected to approach the Adjutant General's office that has records of ex-Armymen looking for reemployment with the state government.
A retired colonel would head the security force. (ANI)
