IIM Shillong 1st convocation on Apr 3

Shillong, Apr 3: Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Shillong is all set for its first convocation on Saturday, Apr 3.

IIM Shillong, the first IIM in North east was established in Jul 2008. The insitute has successfully placed all the 63 students, with the highest international offer of Rs 33 lakh per annum. The highest domestic offer is Rs 18 lakh per annum.

Despite being the youngest IIM, the institute has achieved great heights withing these short span of times.

"With Sustainability as the core philosophy, IIM Shillong has instituted a capstone program on the same for all the students of the Post Graduate Programme," Prof Ashoke K Dutta, Director.

"We have been the first centrally funded technical institute to have implemented a comprehensive ERP system among other state of the art IT infrastructure," he said.

"We have also hosted the country's first ever Corporate and Inter B School Golf tournament in the country - both from a perspective of providing a platform to future Managers for interacting with executives from the Corporate Houses; and with the intention of showcasing the tourism potential of Meghalaya and the North East," he added.

Dutta informed that the convocation which is scheduled to take place at 10:50 AM will be webcast at www.iimshillong.in.
