London, April 02 (ANI): Prince William has ordered a search for the skull of a fearsome Aboriginal warrior named Pemulwuy, following his visit to a native community in Australia in January.

The Royal was apparently touched when elders of the community at a Sydney suburb of Redfern requested him to help them find the remains of the hero who got killed opposing Britain's settlement of Australia.

Pemulwuy's remains were brought to the UK in the early 19th century, but were lost.ow, according to correspondence published by a number of Australian newspapers, William's private secretary Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, has written to Mick Mundine, head of the Redfern Aboriginal Housing Company, insisting that its a "supremely important search".

"His Royal Highness was so profoundly impressed by the determination of the Aboriginal elders he met that day in Redfern in their quest to right the wrongs done to this famous warrior in death, and to afford his mortal remains a proper burial," the Scotsman quoted Lowther-Pinkerton, as stating in the letter.

Also, a St James' Palace spokesman said: "Prince William intends to do what he can to help with the search for Pemulwuy's missing skull." (ANI)
