Cong questions Bachchan's stand on Godhra riots
Mumbai, Mar 29: Congress lashed out on Amitabh Bachchan after the Gujarat Chief Minister spoke in defence of the Bollywood actor on Monday, Mar 29, media reports said.
Irked by the Modi's comparison of Congress with Taliban while extending support to Bachchan, Congress spokesman Manish Tiwari asked the Bachchan to clarify his stand on the 2002 Gujarat riots.
"Mr Bachchan do you endorse what happened during the riots," asked Tiwari.
"What are your views on Gujarat government's complicity during the post-Godhra riots? You must explain your position," he said.
Tiwari challenged Bachchan to speak out on his links with Modi and make his stand clear on post-Godhra riots.
"If Amitabh is a sensitive person, which he claims to be, then he must tell the nation where he stands. Remember, Modi has been compared to Milosevic," he said.
The Congress spokesperson slammed Modi for sharing the dias with Chief Justice of India, KG Balakrishnan at GNLU convocation.
"Modi is shameless. If he had some honour, he would not have shared the dais with the Chief Justice of India," said Tiwari.
However, its ally NCP seems to be having a completley different opinion on the Bachchan with Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal asking for the matter to be laid to rest.
"It is time to bury the controversy and give Amitabh Bachchan a breather. It was not Big B's fault that he was invited at the Sea Link inauguration," Bhujbal said.
