Tamil Nadu govt employees also get 8 pc hike in DA
Chennai, Mar 27: A week after the Cabinet approved eight per cent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees, Tamil Nadu government decided to hike the DA for its employees also by 8 per cent.
The DMK on Saturday, Mar 27 hiked the Dearness Allowance and also extended the benefits to pensioners too. The revised DA will be payable from Jan 1, 2010.
Reports say that a directive in this regard has been issued by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.
The revised DA will cost State exchequer an additional sum of Rs 1,447.76 crore annually, a release said.
On Mar 19, the Cabinet approved 8 per cent hike in DA to central government employees, which is also payable from Jan 2010. The revision was made from 27 per cent to 35 per cent.
