Lakshmi Mittal tops Asia Rich List 2010
London, Mar 27: Indian-born business tycoon Lakshmi Mittal heads the Asian Rich List, released by Eastern Eye, a publication of the Asian Media and Marketing Group on Friday, Mar 26.
With wealth of 17 billion pounds, the 59-year-old NRI, who owns the world"s largest steel company ArcelorMittal, has been named the richest Asian in the world for the year 2010.'
Hinduja brothers, Srichand and Gopichand with 8 billion pounds follow the steel baron in the second spot. The third position was taken by Anil Agarwal of mining group Vedanta Resources with 4 billion pounds.
Sir Anwar Pervez of Bestways with 715 million pound and NRI industrialist Swraj Paul of Caparo with 510 million pound followed Agarwal on the Rich List.
Mittal has managed to keep AclerMittal afloat despite the rough waters in the economy by reducing the cost substantially and strengthening the balance sheet. This has helped Mittal's company to start 2010 on a strong note.
