Jaya lashes out at media over Amitabh issue
New Delhi, Mar 26: Choosing to stay away from Amitabh Bachchan's sea link controversy, Samajwadi Party MP and actress Jaya Bachchan said that her husband is capable of defending himself.
"I have not come to speak on behalf of Amitabh Bachchan. I am not his spokesperson. He can defend himself," Jaya said.
Jaya lashed out at journalists when she was repeatedly asked to comment on the controversy.
"Amitabh was here. You could have asked him about it. If you are talking to me ask questions related to me," she said.
Jaya sounded equally miffed when she was asked if Amitabh should apologise over the issue.
"Why should Amitji have to say sorry? Political parties are dividing India; in a democracy, anyone can go anywhere. If anyone is invited somewhere, he or she must go," she said.
Amitabh's presence in inauguration ceremony of the newest phase of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai created quite a stir after some members of the Mumbai Congress openly expressed thier displeasure over Amitabh attending the ceremony.
