Petrol, diesel prices set to go up from Apr 1
New Delhi, Mar 24: Petrol and diesel prices in 13 metro cities are set to go up, with the Petroleum Ministry considering a higher price for Euro-IV fuels.
Speaking to reporters, Oil Secretary S Sundarshan said, "Euro-IV petrol and diesel will be supplied in 13 designated cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad from Apr 1."
According to sources, petrol prices may go up by 41 paise/litre and diesel by 26 paise/litre in 13 big cities.
This will be the second price hike for consumers in less than two months.
"If we do not increase price, the under recoveries (revenue loss) in 2010-11 would be Rs 70,000 crore," Sundarshan added.
