Maruti Suzuki unveils its millionth car

Manesar, Mar 23: Maruti Suzuki Motor Corp has joined the ranks of the carmakers producing milion unit or more annually as it unveiled its millionth car, a dazzling red Swift, from its plant on Tuesday, Mar 23.

The feat has brought the carmaker in the league of Toyota, General Motors, Volkswagen, Ford, Honda, Renault, Hyundai, Suzuki and Nissan, all of whom produces a million unit or more every year.

The achievement comes soon after Maruti overtook the parent company Suzuki Motors in terms of sales.

The company marked the occasion by laying the foundation for expanding production to 2.5 lakh units at its Manesar plant at an investment of Rs 1700 crore.

Suzuki Motor Corp Chairman Osamu Suzuki was presented during the occasion.
