Man stabs eight students to death in China

Beijing, Mar 23: In a gruesome incident, a former doctor stabbed eight children to death and wounded five others at an elementary school in eastern China, local official said.

A man, who chose to be identified by his surname Wu in the Nanping city government office, said that the assailant armed with a large knife killed eight students from Nanping City Experimental Elementary School, out of which six died on the spot.

Five were injured in the attack and are being treated in a hospital in at a hospital.

Wu said that the attacker is a former community doctor and has a history of mental illness.

A local media report said that the assailant has been taken into custody.

The school has been closed following the incident.
