Kolkata: Major fire at Park Street, 2 killed
Kolkata, Mar 23: At least two people have been killed and over eighteen injured in a major fire that broke out in a multi-storey building on Park Street located in the heart of Kolkata on Tuesday, Mar 23.
Latest inputs say that Rapid Action Force (RAF) has been brought in for operations. Visuals of the mishap show the whole area engulfed in smoke.
As per media reports the fire started in the elevator of the building. However, there is no confirmation on this information. Latest inputs also say that six people have been killed in mishap but the police refused to confirm it.
Many are feared to be trapped in the building, which used for both commercial and residential purposes and is located in the famous Flury's area.
Fire tenders and ambulances were rushed to the spot for rescue operations. Fifteen fire engines have been pressed to action.
More information on the mishap is awaited.
This comes a month after the deadly fire at the Carlton Towers in Bangalore.
