Kingfisher flight bomb: Kerala govt orders probe

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 22: Noting that the presence of a low-intensity bomb on-board a flight indicates a serious security lapse, the Kerala government has constituted a high-level probe team to investigate into the incident.

"It is a serious security lapse. We have directed the security agencies to look into this," said Kerala Law Minister M Vijaykumar.

The probe committee will be headed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jolly Cherian.

On Sunday, Mar 21 morning, a low-intensity country-made bomb that was found inside a Kingfisher flight IT-4731 from Bangalore to Thiruvananthapuram.

A cargo cleaner informed the CISF officials of a suspicious object after which the plane was taken to remote bay area of the Thiruvananthapuram airport.

The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was called in. After assessing the suspicious object, the BDS defused it.

This incident has heightened the fears of an attack amid the increased terror threat across the country.
