Kansas: Indian-origin man shot dead in a robbery

Chicago, Mar 19: The robbery case, in which a 35-year-old Indian-origin man was shot dead by unidentified assailants on Wednesday, Mar 17, continues to baffle the Kansas police as the man was killed even after he handed over the money.

The victim, Gurpreet Singh, was working as a cash clerk at a convenience store called 7-11.

According to a report in Kansas City Star, the incident was recorded on a surveillance camera of the store. The footage shows the assailants were two men, both hooded, who were accompanied by a girl, who stand at the door to keep vigil.

In a detail that evokes sympathy for the victim, it is learnt that Singh, who was killed while he was working his final shift at the store, was expected to move to full time job at a hospital next week.

Police are on the look out for the two men and the girl. Singh called the police at around 1: 10 am and informed that he had been shot at by a man, who entered the store and demanded money.

Even though Singh complied to the assailant's demand, he was shot in the abdomen. The father of two succumbed to his injuries later during a surgery.

The store 7-11 has been reportedly targeted seven times over the past year.
