Google may have to drop 'Nexus' from smartphone
Bangalore, Mar 19: Google may be forced to drop 'Nexus' from its Android phone's market name Nexus One as the word is owned by an American telecom company called Intergra.
As per reports, the US Patents Office has blocked Internet giant from getting the trademark to the name its flagship phone. This is, however, temporary or an interim order as the Office is waiting for a response and further communication from Google.
Integra has also expressed its readiness to sort out the matter and is probably open to strike a deal with Google.
The name Nexus One is proving to be costly for Google as there is facing another lawsuit. Science-fiction writer Philip K Dick's family is reportedly suing the search engine giant as the androids in Dick's novel 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?' were called Nexus 6.
