New Delhi, Mar 12: Even as the jubilation for the Women's Reservation Bill is yet to die down, Delhi High Court on Friday, Mar 12 has directed the Centre to allow grant of permanent commission to them.

The verdict was declared following a batch of petitions filed by serving and retired lady officers.

The Bench, headed by justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul directed the government to provide all consequential benefit to them.

On Dec 14, the Court reserved its verdict on the petitions seeking permanent commission to serving women officers like their male counterparts in the armed forces.

At present, induction of women Army officers are done under the Short Service Commission for a maximum period of 14 years as oppose to their male counterparts who become eligible to receive the permanent commission after five years.
