Malegaon blast case: Bombay High Court rejects Sadhvi Thakur's bail plea
Mumbai, Mar 12 (ANI): The Bombay High Court on Friday turned down the bail plea of 2008 Malegaon blast prime accused Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur.
Justice S C Dharmadhikari rejected her lawyer's argument that she had been illegally detained before her formal arrest on October 23, 2008, thereby denying bail to her.
Thakur's lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani argued that her client had been in the custody of Maharashtra's Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) since October 10, 2009.
On the contrary, the court found out that she was moving freely without police surveillance from October 10 to 23.
The court also made a note of the fact that the affidavit submitted by Thakur to the Human Rights Commission, complaining about custodial torture and to the court varied. (ANI)
