Students held for smearing colour on Maya's poster
Lucknow, Mar 10: The Uttar Pradesh police has arrested four school students and sent them to reformatory home for juveniles for allegedly smearing a poster of BSP supremo and Chief Minister Mayawati with colours during Holi.
The four students of the Uttar Pradesh Sainik School were arrested on Holi night. The police claim that the students were caught red handed when they were damaging public protperty.
After lodging a case against them under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, the students were sent to reformatory home for juveniles, reports quoting official sources said on Wednesday, Mar 10.
Telling the other side of the tale are the school authorities, who maintain that the students are innocent and the police are framing them.
"It doesn"t seem that our students would do such an act," school spokesman KK Tiwari said.
The students are also appearing for the XII board exams.
Expressing anguish over the whole situation, father of one of the accused said, “With board examinations going on, our children are brought to school from juvenile home to appear in the examination. They are being treated like murderers."
