Pak Army 'fully prepared' to respond to all challenges: Kayani
Islamabad, Mar.10 (ANI): Lauding the security forces for carrying out 'successful' operations against extremists in various parts of the country, Pakistan Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has said that country's armed forces are 'fully prepared to respond to all challenges'.
Presiding over the Corps Commanders' Conference here, General Kayani said the Pakistan Army would maintain professional excellence to protect national security interests.
Expressing satisfaction over the Army's performance in operations against militants, he said the anti-insurgency operations were moving in the right direction and claimed that peace had returned to many areas, which had become terror safe havens over the period of time.
Sources privy to the conference said that the commanders also discussed the security scenario vis-'-vis its eastern border with India.
The situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border with special focus on possible repercussions of the surge of US-led NATO forces in Afghanistan was also discussed during the conference, The Dawn reports. (ANI)
