Women's bill: Rajya Sabha adjourned till 12 noon

New Delhi, Mar 9: The Rajya Sabha saw a replay of the uproar over the Women's reservation bill even on Tuesday, Mar 9 leading to the house being adjourned till 12 pm.

The upper house was expected to hold a session on the controversial Women's quota bill, which reserves 33 per cent for women in Lok Sabha and state assemblies.

The bill sees opposition from parties such as RJD, SP, and BSP, which are demanding for a quota with quota for Dalits, minorities and the backward classes.

The Bill was blocked by the opposition faction on Monday, Mar 8, leading to the voting being deferred to Tuesday, Mar 9.

The house saw some shameful display of protests and agitations as the members rushed to the well and snatched the paper from the Chairperson Hamid Ansari's hands and even grabbed his microphone on Mar 8.

Despite the uproar, the UPA government is keen on going forward with the bill.
