New Delhi, Mar 9: The home ministry has issued a fresh terror alert to three metros including Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata advising the Maharashtra, Karnataka and West Bengal authorities to beef up security at sensitive spots.

This terror alert comes in the wake of the arrest of an Indian Mujahideen terrorist by Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) last Friday, Mar 5. He has been wanted for involvement in the serial blasts at Ahmedabad, Varanasi and Gorakhpur.

"They (terrorists) may now try to attack the airports at peak hours from the frontal side so that they are able to inflict maximum damage...it is for this reason we have got deployed on the city side at bigger airports," CISF additional director-general (airport sector) M S Bali told the media on Monday, Mar 8.

Besides the plans of ISI-LeT combine to target Indian metropolitan cities, the arrested IM cadr, identified as Salman alias Chottu, has also revealed that the IM cadres are being used for ISI-Lashker"s Karachi project.

Through this project, local terror leaders recruit Indians and send them across the border to Pakistan for training.

It was found earlier that Salman, who obtained a fake passport from Nepal, had recently visited the Pakistan where he attended training at a terror camp and returned to Nepal. He was, in fact, arrested, along the UP-Nepal border.
