Despite protests, Moily tables Women's bill in RS
New Delhi, Mar 8: Despite the persistent opposition and protests, Law Minister Veerappa Moily went ahead and tabled the Women's Reservation Bill in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, Mar 8.
The Opposition indulged in unruly behavior in the house as members went up to the Chairman Hamid Ansari and tried to snatch the papers from his hands.
Due to the uproar, the house ended up being adjourned yet again till 3 pm.
The house has already been adjourned twice, once till 12 pm and second time till 2 pm over the bill which provides 33 per cent reservation for the women in Lok Sabha and state assembly.
The opposing group lead by SP, RJD and BSP contend that the bill ignores the women from Dalit, minority and backward classes.
