1 in 10 Brit dads ignore making homes child-safe
London, March 8 (ANI): Almost one in ten British fathers ignore measures to safeguard their children from accidents that can be prevented around the homes, suggests a poll.
A survey by UK's Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) found that while 88 per cent with kids under the age of five ensured protective changes, the remainder made no efforts to improve safety in the house.
But the survey also discovered that two-thirds of the daddies who did make changes said their approach was "thorough".
"Bumps and scrapes are inevitable, but it is serious accidents we need to prevent," the Scotsman quoted Katrina Phillips, chief executive of CAPT, as saying.
"In 2007 we ran a similar survey which found that new fathers needed to brush up on child safety. So it's great news that in just three years so many modern dads are now active accident busters," Phillips added.
Agony aunt Denise Robertson also said: "Today, access to information is far greater than 30 years ago when I had my own children, and I would give the same advice to both mums and dads.
"Use your common sense and consult the trusted sources of information which are there for you. There may be some hazards and risks you might not have considered and which can be revented." (ANI)
