Cambridge University to offer B and B to tourists for first time in 800-yr-old history

London, Mar 6(ANI): For the first time in its 800-year history, the Cambridge University, the second oldest university in UK and the fourth oldest in Europe, is opening its doors to the public, and offering bed and breakfast accommodation in some of the most historic buildings.

Until now only conference delegates and guests of college members could book accommodation at the university, but now visitors will be able to sample university life by staying at colleges once occupied by Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Oliver Cromwell, William Wordsworth, Stephen Hawking and Stephen Fry.

A Conference Cambridge spokeswoman, Kelly Vickers, said that when students are away during holidays, people can book into 18 different university venues.

"Thousands of visitors come to Cambridge each year, attracted by the historical architecture and unique atmosphere of the colleges," The Telegraph quoted Vickers, as saying.

"In the past, requests for staying in the colleges have mainly come from groups but we have noticed a significant increase in enquiries from individuals."

"Now everyone can experience it first hand by booking into one of our participating venues offering bed and breakfast in the university vacations," she added. (ANI)
