UP stampede: PM announces Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia
New Delhi, Mar 5: Expressing remorse over the tragic UP temple stampede, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday, Mar 5 announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased.
Singh while replying to the presidential address in the Lok Sabha, referred to the stampede in the Ashram in which 65 people killed.
"I join all members in conveying our heartfelt condolences to the families of deceased and wish speedy recovery to all those who have suffered injuries," he said.
An ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 from the National Relief Fund was announced for those seriously injured.
65 people, including 26 children and 37 women were killed and over 100 others were seriously injured when the main gate of the Ram Janaki temple collapsed in Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, Mar 4.
