Kolkata: Massive fire breaks out at tannery

Kolkata, Mar 5: Eighteen fire tenders have been pressed into action as a massive fire broke out at a tannery, close to the educational park Science City.

The fire which broke out in the tannery spread quickly to an adjacent slum. Science City and a five star hotel are also is located in the vicinity.

The fire personnel are fighting the blaze. Since the fire was spreading, water was sprayed on Science City to prevent it from catching fire.

The fire has caused major traffic snarls and a major jam has been reported on the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

This comes two weeks after the massive fire at Bangalore's Carlton Towers which claimed at least nine lives.
