Pakistan troops kill 30 Taliban militants

Peshawar, Mar 4: At least 30 Taliban militants were killed by Pakistan security forces in a fierce gunbattle on Thursday, Mar 4, in a tribal region near Afghan border.

According to local officials, the gun battle broke out in the town of Chamarkand.

The officials said 25 to 30 militants and one soldier were killed in the fierce exchange of fire.

Security forces had recovered the bodies of five militants, they said.

Chamarkand town is just a kilometre away from Afghanistan's troubled Kunar province.
